Family fun this weekend is all about modes of transportation.

You can ride in a canoe down Spring Creek to the beautiful Jesse Jones Nature Park in Humble. The free canoe rides are Saturday, March 20 at 9 a.m. or Sunday, March 21 at 2 p.m. On Saturday, paddle down Spring Creek to Jones Park or canoe down Spring Creek on a shorter trip from Jones Park to the San Jacinto River on Sunday. The trip does have an age limit and a space limit. You must be at least 16 to participate. You must make a reservation. Contact the Jones Nature Center at

Lots of cyclists are on the streets of Houston these days, training for the Tour de Houston this Sunday and the marathon MS150 charity bike ride from Houston to Austin on April 17. So what better time for a bicycle repair workshop? It takes place Saturday, March 20 from 10 a.m.  to 2 p.m. on the Andrea and Bill White Promenade of Discovery Green Park. This is a great event for all ages that pays dividends for years to come. Bring your bike and learn how to fix it courtesy of Project Bicycle Freedom.

And how about cruising in a Corvette?

The 32nd Annual Corvette / Chevy Expo takes place at the George R. Brown Convention Center this weekend. There will be over 150 cars on display plus see a VERY LIMITED Synergy Green Camaro. Also major vendors from all over the US will be there to sell hard to find parts and accessories by the truckload. Vendors from across the country will attend. Tickets are $15 for one day and $25 for a two-day pass. Children 12 and under get in free. The event times are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Live music will be performed by Steve Reynolds' Band.
