HOUSTON—A couple accused of embezzling more than $230,000 from the Harris County District Attorney’s Office appeared in court Monday morning.

A judge reduced bond for Eloise and Daniel Mireles from hundreds of thousands of dollars to $25,000 each.

Prosecutors say the couple stole money from a special fund set up to help victims of crime.

Eloise had access to the cash, because she worked in the Victim’s Rights Division of the DA’s office.

Authorities allege the suspects used the stolen funds to buy expensive cars, travel and renovate their east Houston home.
