Procedures

Advanced Laser Vision & Surgical Institute provides a wide range of services. From our state-of-the-art facilities, we perform the latest in laser vision correction, as well as other elective procedures.

MonoVision -

This is an option for those people over 40 who require reading glasses for near vision tasks. Mono vision gives you good distance and near vision by treating one eye for distance and one eye for near vision or partial near vision. Many people learn to adapt to mono vision with excellent results. Your dominant eye is usually treated for distance vision and your non-dominant eye is slightly under corrected for near vision. Your eyes learn to work together after an adaptation period and many people need no glasses for distance or near with this option. Millions of people wear mono vision contact lenses with great success.

LASIK -

Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis - is the most common refractive procedure. During LASIK surgery a corneal flap is created by the INTRALASE femtosecond laser. This flap is then lifted and the prescription is treated with the excimer laser on the residual corneal tissue. The flap is then repositioned and the treatment is complete. There are two types of LASIK - TRADITIONAL AND CUSTOM VUE. Each patient will be evaluated to determine which procedure is the best treatment for their needs.

Intralasik -

Every LASIK eye surgery starts with Step One—the creation of a corneal flap. Doctors have traditionally performed Step One using a hand-held device with an oscillating metal blade, called a microkeratome. Results were considered good.

PRK -

Photo-Refractive Keratectomy became popular worldwide in the early 1990's when the excimer laser was first approved by the FDA for laser vision correction. During PRK surgery the corneal surface is treated instead of the inner tissue as in LASIK. The results are similar to LASIK, but the healing process is slower and there is more discomfort for the first few days post operatively. Many patients who have pre existing problems such as corneal cell problems, severe dry eye, thin corneas or occupations that require PRK have excellent outcomes with PRK.

CustomVue -

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration has approved CustomVue™ treatments, establishing a new standard for the correction of nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism.

You may have heard CustomVue treatments referred to as “custom LASIK” or “wavefront LASIK.” CustomVue treatments use WaveScan™ technology, originally developed to reduce distortions in high-powered telescopes

Prelex -

Presbyopic Lens Exchange is a procedure that is similar to cataract surgery.  This surgery is preformed on persons who wish to have reduced prescription.  This procedure is only preformed on persons over the age of 45 who are hyperopic, presbyopic, or minimally nearsighted.

Verisyse -

Phakic IOL (Verisyse) Lens Implant - An intraocular lens implant for patients over 21 years of age who have a prescription greater than -5.00 diopters to -20.0 diopters of myopia with 2.5 diopters or less of astigmatism correction.  Patients must have stable refraction and be free of ocular disease including  any corneal irregularities.  The intraocular lens is attached to the iris (the colored part of the eye) and acts like an internal contact lens.  This allows the patient to have more natural vision without heavy glasses or contact lens prescription.

Crystalens -

Advance Laser Vision & Dr. William Lipsky announce that crystalens ® is the first intraocular lens, or IOL, for cataracts that also provides accommodation. All other IOL's are fixed and stationary within the eye. Their particular design prevents them from accommodating, or moving to focus. The crystalens ® is unique because it actually accommodates to reconnect you continuously and effortlessly to everything in your day, no matter the distance.

ReStor -

Advanced Laser Vision & Dr. William Lipsky announce that the FDA has approved the ReSTOR multifocal intraocular lens for PRELEX (presbyopic lens exchange) for those persons over the age of 50.

ReZoom -

Advanced Laser Vision & Dr. William Lipsky announce that the FDA has approved the ReZoom multifocal intraocular lens for PRELEX (presbyopic lens exchange) for those persons over the age of 50.

Radial Keratotomy -

If you are under age 40 laser refractive surgery will give you BOTH distance and near vision. As you age your lens of your eye loses your ability to accommodate and see at near - this is usually after age 40. This is when many people begin using reading glasses or bifocals.
