Kim Gagne recently joined the cast of characters at Great Day Houston after months of freelance producing. She is a producer at the core.  She says she loves producing because she “can boss people around.”  Kim has come full circle and rejoins her KHOU-TV family after being away from the Belo station for more than four years. During her time away Kim freelanced on several projects including the award winning documentary “Mutiny On The Bayou: Camp Logan” in 2006.

Kim also worked as a producer on the nationally syndicated court television shows “Texas Justice” and “Judge Alex.” Court television definitely helped her craft her skills. Many of her segments were used in sweeps months. Kim was instrumental in helping launch the “Judge Alex” show and making it the number one new syndicated television show in 2005.

Kim has a long news background. It started right out of college at KRIV-TV Channel 26 in Houston.  At Channel 26, Kim was a jack of all trades. She worked in all facets of the newsroom including producing the top rated show “City Under Siege.” After leaving Channel 26 in 1990, Kim joined the staff of KHOU-TV, Channel 11 as an Associate Producer. From there, she was promoted to Producer of the 6pm newscast and later tapped to do Special Projects for the station. Kim also created KHOU’s award winning Consumer Division, the “Defenders.” Kim and her reporter, Eileen Faxas, worked as a two woman team to right the wrongs of many businesses that took advantage of Channel 11 viewers. Eleven News viewers knew they could call on the Defenders for their consumer problems.

Kim welcomes a good challenge and looks forward to producing a live daily talk show. She is a native Houstonian. Kim and her husband have three beautiful children. When not producing her next documentary or producing Great Day Houston, Kim likes lazy Sunday’s, eating out at “good” restaurants, and traveling the globe.
