HOUSTON -- Freezing rain moved through Southeast Texas overnight, knocking out power and toppling trees in the Houston area.

In Katy and regions to the northwest, residents reported ice a quarter-inch thick on signs and cars. While thin, it was enough to break branches and bring down dead trees.

Most of the bad weather (freezing temps included) moved out in the later morning hours, leaving the Houston area with a cool and cloudy afternoon.
