We now have an idea of what the stage version of Frozen will sound like.
Disney Theatrical Productions announced Monday that leads Anna and Elsa will be played Broadway vets Patti Murin and Caissie Levy, respectively. Unfamiliar with the actresses? Here's a preview of their voices:
Here, Patti Murin, who's starred in Broadway's Lysistrata Jones and Xanadu, performs a comedic and pitch-perfect rendition of the Frozen duet Love Is an Open Door with Andrew Rannells. (The song starts at 1:43.)
Above, Caissie Levy, who's known on the Great White Way for Ghost, Wicked and the 2014 revival of Les Miserables, sings a mash-up of Frozen song Let It Go and The Beatles' Let It Be. It's no wonder one of the top comments on the YouTube page, from a year ago, is: "My vote for Elsa on Broadway." (The song starts at 1:33 and really picks up at 3:04.)
As for the rest of the main characters, here's the casting: Jelani Alladin as Kristoff, Greg Hildreth as Olaf, John Riddle as Hans and Robert Creighton as the Duke of Weselton.
The stage version of the Oscar-winning animated musical is expected to open at the Buell Theatre in the Denver Center for the Performing Arts in August, before moving to Broadway's St. James Theatre in 2018.
