TV tonight: 'American Music Awards,' 'The Affair'

The Durrells in Corfu
PBS, 8 ET/PT (times may vary)

For all who have reveled in this much-needed chance to slip away for a blissful vacation on a gorgeous Greek island, the sad news is that the idyll ends with Sunday's sixth and final installment of the Durrells. But don’t despair:

This enchanting series about a wildly eccentric, utterly winning British family and the equally eccentric and winning characters who surround them on Corfu will be back for a second season.

In the meantime, you get one last hour to enjoy the spot-on performances from Keeley Hawes, Josh O’Connor, Daisy Waterstone, Callum Woodhouse, Milo Parker and the entire cast and bask in the knowledge that wit, intelligence and competence still exist in this world.

American Music Awards
ABC, 8 ET/5 PT

If, instead, you’d rather escape with music, ABC offers the American Music Awards, with scheduled performers Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Green Day, Sting and John Legend. Odds are that some political opinions will be expressed, so if you’re not in the mood, don’t say you haven’t been warned

The Affair
Showtime, 10 ET/PT

Irène Jacob joins the show as Noah's new love, which allows The Affair to add a fifth perspective. Whether you watch or not probably depends on whether your reaction to that addition was "great” or “God, no.”
