Move over, Avengers. There's a new super team defending New York.
Marvel's The Defenders is set to unite the four superheroes who have been punching and kicking their way into our hearts on Netflix: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. The four shows have already overlapped, with Rosario Dawson's character Claire Temple showing up in all four, and some villains and the heroes themselves crossing over (Luke Cage was first introduced on Jessica Jones). But now, they're all together and ready to save the day. In their own, particular way.
A very short teaser for the series surfaced this week, and it captures the characteristics of these four in the form of elevator security footage. Daredevil is blind but powerful, Luke Cage is bulletproof, Jessica Jones is strong and independent and Iron Fist is a fighter.
Astute fans noticed the time stamp in the corner of the footage, which may be a premiere date. The Netflix press site confirms that the show will hit the streaming service on Aug. 18. Until then, all four individual shows are streaming their seasons (two seasons in Daredevil's case). Though you may be able to skip one.
