Let's hope they don't honeymoon "in a funky, cheap motel."
The singer explained that he met his fiancé while looking for a new piece of art.
"I saw his art," Martin said, "and I went crazy ‘cause I really love what he does. Really original. And I contacted him.”
“I had no idea what he looked like,” Martin added, “and then I saw what he looked like and I’m like, ‘Yeah.’”
Then, the father of two revealed to the audience he was engaged and showed off a ring on his left hand.
Martin told DeGeneres he was the one to pop the question, albeit with some jitters.
“I was really nervous,” he said, “but I got on my knees, and I took out the little metal box. I just had it in a little velvet pouch. And instead of saying, ‘Would you marry me?’ I said, "I got you something!" Bad! And then he was like, ‘Yes?’ I said, ‘I want to spend my life with you,’ and he was like, ‘What is the question?’ (I said) ‘Would you marry me?’ That’s it.’”
The news was almost too good for Martin to believe.
“And then it was very beautiful, and then thirty minutes after I said, ‘Wait did you said yes?’ ‘Yes,’ he said, ‘Yes.’”
