Nickelodeon plans 'School of Rock' series

Hot TV news!

Nickelodeon just announced it is teaming with Paramount Television to produce a new live-action, musical-comedy series School of Rock, based on the 2003 hit film.

Guess it takes 11 years to get a classic film like this to the small screen.

The cable channel has ordered 13 episodes of the series, which is scheduled to begin production this fall and premiere in the spring of 2015.

Casting for the series will be announced shortly, says Nick, but honestly, who could fill the Jack Black shoes for the role of the epic Dewey Finn, down-on-his-luck rocker who poses as a substitute teacher to infuse rock into the young minds at a stuffy prep school?
