Jon Stewart to co-host ESPN's 'SportsCenter' from Warrior Games

Former Daily Show host Jon Stewart will co-host ESPN’s SportsCenter alongside anchor Hannah Storm live on Friday from the Warrior Games in Chicago.

The Warrior Games, which began June 30 and conclude Saturday, feature 265 athletes from the U.S. military, the United Kingdom military and Australian military.

On top of hosting the 7 p.m. SportsCenter showing, Stewart is expected do live interviews from the site at the 11 p.m. hour. Stewart has long championed for veterans and has been an advocate for the Warriors Games.

“It’s a thrill for me not just to be a part of the Warrior games but also to work with someone who’s one of the best-known hosts in the television industry and such a great talent,” said Storm, a daughter of a U.S. Marine who’s well-versed in covering military-centric events, in an ESPN release. “I’ve always been a fan of (Stewart’s) work, and he’s so involved and so passionate about this cause.”

Adding Stewart, who has held strong “left-wing” political opinions in his television ventures, could stir up some buzz from ESPN skeptics who deem the network to have a liberal slant. But ESPN’s release made it pretty clear Stewart’s co-hosting had nothing to do with politics and everything to do with the 54-year old’s dedication to backing the U.S. military.
