Solange debuts soulful videos for 'Cranes in the Sky,' 'Don't Touch My Hair'

This spring, Beyoncé gave us Lemonade, a tribute to black womanhood and the emotional gauntlet that our race and gender inevitably ropes us in. It was an unabashed manifesto as bitter as it was sweet.

But if that Lemonade was hard to swallow, Solange has come to offer us A Seat at the Table to lay down our crosses and have communion, reflecting not only on black trauma but on black triumph — that unrelenting #BlackGirlMagic, that persevering #BlackBoyJoy.

Her first album in four years, Solange's A Seat at the Table is a divine paean to the irrepressible nature of the black spirit and a topical reflection on the ways in which black people have learned to navigate and find belonging in a culture that tells us we don't belong. Following the album's Friday release, Solange has now premiered music videos to accompany the melancholy Cranes in the Sky and the unapologetic Don’t Touch My Hair.
