Twenty-eight students from 4-H and the Future Farmer's Association were armed with ropes Thursday as they competed in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s Calf Scramble.
The winning students received a $1,500 certificate to buy a registered beef or dairy heifer.
The students will care for the animal for a year, then once the year is up, they'll come back to the rodeo to enter the cow in a special competition.
