This year, and for the past 22 years, hundreds of children with special needs experienced the fun of the Rodeo Houston Bar-B-Que Cookoff thanks to a group of volunteers led by Red Ritch, a veteran of the Rodeo Barbecue. Kids enjoyed musical performances, acts by clowns, appearances by local celebrities and Houston Police officers, and of course, world-class barbecue. Each child left with a goodie bag full of prizes, a t-shirt and a smile on his or her face. KHOU 11 News reporter Katherine Whaley also spent time with the children during the day’s festivities.
