HOUSTON – People at the HLSR barbecue cook-off were doing double takes Thursday night when a couple of music legends showed up.
Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson dropped by one of the tents at Reliant Park.
Ticket Services Committee volunteer Chad Petrash was driving a golf cart through the crowd when a police officer flagged him down. He asked Petrash to give a couple of people a ride.
That’s when Dolly Parton jumped into the cart beside him.
Petrash said he didn’t even realize Willie Nelson was in the back until they got to the tent. Nelson gave Petrash a hug and thanked him for the ride.
Witnesses said the pair didn't need the golf cart when they left the tent. They had limos waiting.
One viewer reports Willie and Dolly were actually a couple of professional impersonators hired to appear at the NAPE conference in Houston. If so, a lot of people were fooled!
The cook-off continues through Saturday.
