HOUSTON—In today’s special Neighborhood Eats report, from the grounds of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, we went in search of the hottest foods.

KHOU 11 News Reporter Sherry Williams tried the jalapeno sausage at Holmes Smokehouse, the Cowboy Burrito at Texas Skillet and the jalapeno cheeseburger at Paradise Burgers.

While all those peppers failed to make her palate pop, those who staff the food booths said most people dash for a glass of water after eating their fiery fare.

“I don’t feel the heat yet,” Williams said after biting into a pepper and then the burrito.

However she did find it to be the spiciest of the three items she tried.

“I say that only because it did make my lips tingle,” she said.

She found the burger to be the tastiest item.

“We’re gonna’ add you some more jalapenos,” said Paradise Burgers owner Vanessa Schillaci. “And some hot sauce for an extra kick.”
