HOUSTON -- Video entries are now being accepted online for the first-ever Rodeo Rockstar competition at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™.  Non-professional competitors who wish to showcase their musical talents are encouraged to submit an audition video through the RodeoHouston® official Facebook page or on the RodeoHouston website. Deadline for submission is Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012.

Rodeo Rockstar is open to individuals between the ages of 6 and 21 who are not practicing professionals or engaged in this work for a livelihood. This includes any person who might have a manager, music recording contract, agreement relating to the use of his or her name/likeness, or other entertainment contract.
The competition is split into two age divisions:
--Juniors, ages 6 to 15 (must be at least 6 years old and not older than 15 by Jan. 12, 2012)
--Youth, ages 16 to 21 (must be at least 16 years old and not older than 21 by Jan. 12, 2012)
Public voting for the Rodeo Rockstar Audition Round will begin at noon, Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, and conclude at noon, Monday, Feb. 20, 2012.
The top 10 in each age division will advance to the preliminary round, and will be notified by Feb. 22, 2012.
The Rodeo Rockstar Preliminary Round will take place at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Kids Country Stage in Reliant Park on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, beginning at 5 p.m. Contestants are allowed to bring their own instruments, but the Show will only accommodate standard plug-and-play. Outlets for compact discs, iPods or other MP3 devices are available, but should include background music only. Each performer will have four minutes to perform for a panel of three judges, with the top-five-scoring competitors moving forward to the final round.
The final round of Rodeo Rockstar also will be held at the Kids Country Stage, on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, beginning at 5 p.m. Each competitor will have five minutes to perform for a panel of three judges.
The first-place contestant in each age division will receive a $500 cash prize and the title of 2012 Rodeo Rockstar; second place will receive a $250 cash prize; and third place will receive a $100 cash prize.
The 2012 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo runs Tuesday, Feb. 28, through Sunday, March 18.
