HOUSTON—More than a little excitement happened at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Sunday after a bucking bull broke free and made his way to the parking lot.
According to rodeo officials, a gate malfunctioned during the closing process and the bull managed to break free.
Local law enforcement managed to herd the bull away from people and into the employee parking lot, where a wrangler roped and contained the animal.
“In my 37 years here, we’ve never had an animal get through two gates and outside a building. We are reviewing security precautions and procedures to ensure that this will never happen again,” said Leroy Shafer, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo chief operating officer.
Two employees were treated on the scene for minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital.
