BBQ Commanders 3 cook their way to world championship

HOUSTON — Hundreds of barbecue pits, accompanied by mouthwatering aromas and good tunes filled Reliant Park for the 2014 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, from Thursday through Saturday.

Top barbecue teams from across the state and nation competed for a chance to be named the overall grand champion.

More than 400 teams produced barbecue for judging, and after a full weekend of marinating, smoking and grilling, the 2014 winners are:

Overall Grand Champion – BBQ Commanders 3

First Runner Up Overall – Fayette County Go Texan

Second Runner Up Overall – Jack Daniel’s Winner – Cool Smoke
