One of Hollywood's most polarizing couples has uncoupled.
Swift, who recently topped Forbes' list as the world's highest-paid celebrity, was first romantically linked to the prolific actor — known as Loki in the beloved Thor franchise — on June 15 after British tabloid The Sun published a photograph of the stars kissing on the beach near Swift’s
Aptly dubbed "Hiddleswift," the pairing was the stuff of fans' Wildest Dreams — or nightmares, depending on whom you ask — and their whirlwind relationship quickly unfurled in a series of highly publicized displays of affection, trips to Rhode Island, Suffolk, Rome and Australia and meetings with the parents.
In July, Hiddleston addressed speculation that the fast-moving romance was a sham. While shooting Thor: Ragnarok in Australia, the actor spoke to The Hollywood Reporter by phone, saying: "Well, um. How best to put this? The truth is that Taylor Swift and I are together and we're very happy.
"That's the truth," he maintained. "It's not a publicity stunt."
Swift's camp did not respond to USA TODAY's request for comment on the breakup stories and Hiddleston's rep issued a terse "We do not comment on our client's private life."
