Lady Gaga stirs up Super Bowl debate among Houstonians

It is reported that Lady Gaga will be the halftime performer during the Super Bowl, but the choice has stirred up debate among Houstonians.

HOUSTON- The reports about Lady Gaga performing during halftime of the Super Bowl have stirred up a lot of opinions among Houstonians.

Theresa Rock Face, radio host for 94.5 The Buzz, took on-air calls from Houston listeners who had strong opinions.

"What about George Strait," said one listener. "I'd rather have Aerosmith or someone play," said another listener.

Many Houstonians felt as though the choice should've been more representative of the place it is hosted in.

"I think here we want somebody more Texas," said Theresa. "I think maybe more rock side of things instead of that more pop side."

Although most of the female listeners supported the choice of Lady Gaga, a lot of people on social media disagreed with the selection.

"I think the ladies will like it. I think the guys will dislike it but secretly I think the guys are going to like it," said Theresa. "She'll make it risqué and that's what we will talk about afterwards.

The Houston Chronicle reported that the halftime show was originally offered to Adele, but she turned it down saying, "that show is not about music, and I don't dance or anything like that." Pepsi denied ever extending her the offer.

Despite various opinions, Theresa said Lady Gaga will give a halftime performance that won't be forgotten.

"I think she's good because she's going to be edgy and she's going to give us good controversy," said Theresa. "But I don't know if it's what everyone wants to see."

The Super Bowl LI will take place in Houston on Feb. 5.
