Beyoncé returns with moving BET Awards speech, delivered by Chloe x Halle

Beyoncé may have skipped Sunday's BET Awards, but she made sure her voice was heard.

The singer, who welcomed twins with husband Jay Z earlier this month, wasn't in the audience when she won the viewers’ choice award for Sorry. Instead, she sent her protégés Chloe and Halle Bailey, who perform as Chloe x Halle, to accept the award, with the two R&B singers delivering a speech written by Bey.

"We are honored to accept this award on behalf of Miss B, an iconic artist, a trendsetter, a rule-maker, a rulebreaker and our forever inspiration and mentor," Halle said, before Chloe took on Bey's speech.

"Thank you BET for this award and your tremendous support of Lemonade," Chloe said, reading Beyoncé's words. "This has been a journey of love, of celebrating our culture, honoring the past, and approaching the present and future with hope and resolve."

“Thank you to my mother Tina Knowles-Lawson for being my biggest, biggest teacher and consistent influence,” she continued. “Thank you to my entire family for so much love. To my team at Parkwood, thank you. And thanks to all the fans, my Beyhive, for riding with me. I love and appreciate you. And to everyone at the show tonight, you all look so beautiful. And at home, thank you, and have a wonderful, wonderful night. From, Beyonce.”

Beyoncé has shepherded the Bailey sisters' careers for years, signing them to her Parkwood Entertainment management company after their 2013 cover of her track Pretty Hurts went viral. Since then, Chloe and Halle showed up in Bey's Lemonade video and opened for the singer on several of her European Lemonade dates.
