Louis C.K. regrets calling Trump 'Hitler': He's just a 'dirty, rotten' liar

He once called then-candidate Donald Trump “Hitler,” but now Louis C.K. is walking the statement back a bit.

“It’s simpler than I thought,” the Louis C.K. 2017 star told Stephen Colbert during a Tuesday appearance on The Late Show to promote his new Netflix stand-up special.

Trump, in his opinion, is not “some new kind of evil.” He's simply a liar, albeit a “gross” one.

“Like, there’s liars,” the comedian said, breaking down the hierarchy. “Then, there’s somebody who lies once in a while. They can’t quite stay inside the boundaries of truth, right? Somebody who lies sometimes. Then, you have a liar. It’s almost like a problem. They can’t help it. They lie a lot. Then, you have just lying sacks of (expletive). They just lie. They like it. (Trump) likes it. He goes, ‘He-he, it wasn’t even true! And then, I said they were liars.’ It’s just gross. He’s just a gross crook, dirty, rotten, lying sack of (expletive).”

Moments later, Colbert singled out a member of the audience and said, “There’s a guy who voted for him up there.”

“And he’s the victim of the lying,” C.K. opined, adding, “Everybody else was like, ‘Yeah, no, that’s not true.’ But that guy bought it.”

C.K. later pointed to the current administration as an example of why citizens need to vote.

“Here’s the way I look at it," C.K. said, "People that didn’t vote, right? They said, ‘I didn’t want to.’ That’s their thing. ‘I didn’t like Hillary.’ Well, they didn’t even show up to give him an opposite Congress. They didn’t even show up for that, so they just didn’t want to. But voting isn’t something you do because you want to. …You say, ‘What’ll happen if I don’t?'"
