HOUSTON - Life is all about making adjustments -- Jennifer Arnold and Bill Klein understand that better than most.

The Houston couple stars in TLC’s hit reality series, “The Little Couple.” Now, after 5 ½ successful seasons, they’re adding a new member to the cast -- 3-year-old William, recently adopted from China. He’s also a little person, and in eight short weeks, the new parents have really bonded with him.

“It’s quite remarkable that we’ve gone from being complete strangers to being able to read each other’s non-verbal communication,” Klein said. “He’s starting to speak a little bit more. We’re a family.”

Their reality show has its lighter moments, but in a world of “Honey Boo Boos” and “Real Housewives” from just about everywhere, theirs is a reality show with a purpose.

“We went into this because we wanted to raise awareness and say, ‘Huh OK,’ ...next time you see a little person or someone in a wheel chair, you’ll say, ‘OK, they’re just like I am,’” Arnold said.

Klein added that they just want people to treat them just like everybody else.

“The day we get cancelled, because everyone is bored and we’re reminding them of their neighbor and they don’t want to watch their neighbor...we’ve accomplished a lot,” Klein said.

The couple said that living under a microscope is nothing new for them since they are use to it being little people.

“A lot of people ask me how do you handle everyone coming up to you talking to you and noticing you,” Arnold said.

“It’s just gotten more polite,” and more frequent, Klein responded.

In addition to co-starring on a reality show, Arnold is a doctor at Texas Children’s Hospital.

“You work weekends. You work nights. You work days. It’s pretty busy,” she said. Klein stays busy himself with his a pet shop he owns in Rice Village.

“We all have the same needs, wants, desires, aspirations,” Klein said when ask if size really matters.

They may be little people, but they’re just about the most normal people you’ll ever meet. Arnold was excited about celebrating her first Mother’s Day on Sunday.

“I’m thrilled that it’s my first Mother’s Day,” she said.

There’s even more good news for the couple. Klein and Arnold are in the process of adopting a little girl from India. They found out they were at the top of the list while they were adopting little William.
