Ronnie Killen, chef-owner of three Pearland restaurants, Killen’s Steakhouse, Killen’s Barbecue, and Killen’s Burgers, announced Wednesday he will open a restaurant inside the Houston city limits, according to an interview with CultureMap Houston.
Killen posted photos to the restaurant’s Facebook page of what is to be called “Killen’s STQ.”
“It’s going to be fun. I’m excited about the concept. It’s something I’ve been playing with for six years,” Killen said in the interview with CultureMap. “STQ is an abbreviation for steak and barbecue . . . Everything’s going to have a smoke essence.”
According to CultureMap, the restaurant will be located on Voss in the space most recently occupied by Bramble.
The restaurant is to have 56 seats along with a bar and patio.
“56 seats is kind of small, but it’s a thing to build off . . . It’ll be challenging, but I think it’s going to be good,” the chef told CultureMap.
Killen said he hopes to open before the end of October.
