Comedian Lewis Black takes aim at Texas on 'The Daily Show'

HOUSTON -- Few things run deeper than Texas pride.

There s never a conflict until somebody wants to make a conflict, said Houston resident Dennis Schepps. Apparently, controversial comedian Lewis Black is one of those people.

On Wednesday night s episode of The Daily Show, he went on a rant about Gov. Rick Perry s attempts to lure businesses from other states.

In one TV ad Perry states, Texas is calling.

Texas is calling, joked Black. Well, it s a good thing I ve got caller ID.

Regarding the governor himself, Black told viewers, He s the gift who has no idea he keeps giving.

So now he s taking California jobs, Black said. Rick Perry doesn t know it, but he just doubled the Texas porn industry and tripled its number of skateboarding panhandlers.

Perry took his Lone Star swagger to New York this week, to which Black said, You say we ve got too many regulations? We ve got Wall Street. They break the law for a living and never get punished.

Judge Ed Emmett, Harris County s top elected official, told KHOU 11 News what he thought of the rant.

New Yorkers are great people, said Emmett. They just need to get out of New York once in a while, and they re talking about having Anthony Weiner as their mayor? I don t think they can poke much fun at Texas.
