HOUSTON – There will be a lot of cheering, jumping and tumbling this weekend in Galveston.

Hundreds of young cheerleaders from all over the country will battle it out in the American Cheer Power Cash Bash. The winners get a total of $20,000.

The Texas Rock Stars cheer team out of League City won some money in last year’s competition. They have been working hard to win again.

They also brought home a first place national cheer title in 2013.

"We’ve been through a lot together," said Claire Torrance. "A lot of competitions, a lot of pressure, a lot of people not expecting much from us because we’re from a small gym. But we pushed through."

The Rock Stars say cheerleading is all about having fun, building self-esteem and teamwork.

"We’ll do anything for each other," said Madisen Devries. "And everyone on this team has dedication and fierceness. You gotta have fierceness."

The cash bash kicks off Saturday and runs through Sunday at Moody Gardens. Tickets are $20 for one day or $35 for the entire weekend.
