SPOKANE, Washington—Most pre-teens can barely remember their favorite song, but one Spokane 12-year-old is so musically gifted, she’s participating in a global competition. She’s the youngest competitor ever to take part in the World Accordion Championships.

The event will be held in Spokane.

Naomi Harris told KREM 2 she’s very excited to take part in the 62nd year of this event. It’s been over a decade since the US has had anyone qualify to compete at this prestigious competition. Her attitude about the whole thing is refreshing.

“I don’t feel intimidated really,” she said. “I’m going to have a lot fun.”

This is the first year the event will be held in the US. It runs from Wednesday through Saturday.
