AUSTIN, Texas -- South by Southwest isn't just for indie artists anymore.

Canadian pop star Justin Bieber played a surprise pop-up concert at the Scooter Braun Project's Sunday Funday event on Rainey Street Sunday night. However, not everyone at Banger's House and Beer Garden was happy to see Bieber.

University of Texas journalism student Maria Nunez tweeted a "selfie" with Bieber performing in the background with the simple caption, "My selfie with Justin Bieber #SXSW".

The tweet became immensely popular, getting nearly 1,000 retweets and 1,200 favorites in less than 24 hours.

Sites such as Mashable, Cosmopolitan, Yahoo!, Perez Hilton and more quickly posted about the photo. Perez Hilton captioned the photo "Not ready 4 this..." and drew a line pointing at Nunez's stunned face, and Mashable's headline said it all: "Selfie perfectly captures your feelings about a surprise Bieber set."

Soon after she realized the photo had gone viral across social media sites, Nunez tweeted, "Nothing's more iconic than finding out your face is being used as a reaction meme on tumblr #priceless". She then tweeted at a fellow UT student, "My facial expression hasn't changed since the time i took that selfie".

Bieber's set at Banger's Sausage House and Beer Garden included acoustic versions of "Boyfriend" and "As Long As You Love Me."
