NEW YORK—Novelist Toni Morrison has visited Google’s New York offices and shared her vision for how she would turn the search engine leader into a literary character.

Like a contraption out of a “Transformers” movie.
The 82-year-old Nobel laureate is the latest in a line of famous guests from Stephen Colbert (kohl-BEHR’) to Lady Gaga who since 2005 have dropped in on Google Inc. in New York and its home offices in Mountain View, Calif.
Morrison sat Wednesday on a small stage under blue and white lights to speak to dozens of Google employees holding laptops and smartphones. She promoted the paperback edition of her novel “Home” and chatted about technology, teaching and creativity.
