The small painting by Pierre-Auguste Renoir was stolen from a Baltimore Museum in 1951. Fast forward to 2010 when a woman at a Maryland flea market buys a box filled with random items for just $7. She found the painting inside but didn’t realize what it was until she had it appraised.

Experts say we may never know what happened to the painting over the last few decades.

"I think people feel a painting by a famous artist like Renoir ought to be-it just ought to be very clear. But you know, life has so many twists and turns. It has friendships and deaths and divorces and all kinds of chaos," said Doreen Bolger, direction of the Baltimore Museum of Art.

The FBI is investigating the case. Authorities are also working to figure out who the painting now belongs to.
