DALLAS – The tallest 60-year-old in the state’s history is now towering over Fair Park: ‘Howdy Folks,’ Big Tex is ready to wave fairgoers into the grounds.
The State Fair of Texas opens Friday and lasts until October 21, which gives you plenty of time to run off that deep-fried jambalaya. We promise.
So after you peruse our slideshow, head here to buy a ticket. They’re $16 at the gate and $13.95 online. There’s also a discounted food and ride coupon sheet and a season pass, which gives you unlimited visits to the fair and a movie ticket to any Cinemark location.
You can also get advance tickets at Kroger stores, including a DART Combo ticket, which, for $17, gets you a round-trip transit ride and fair admission.
McDonalds also offers folks a $3 discount with one of its State Fair coupons. On Tuesdays, an empty Dr Pepper can gets you in for $5. If you show up with an empty after 5 p.m. any day, though, it’s just $8.
If you’re a Coca-Cola drinker, bring a 20-ounce bottle to the front gate and get in for $6 on Thursdays. On Fridays, bring this coupon in from KISS-FM and get $5 off admission.
And on Oct. 11, anyone wearing Dickies gets in free. On Thursdays, bring a Cinemark ticket stub to get in free. And seniors over 60 get in free every Thursday, too.
So there's plenty of ways to see Tex for less –– enjoy fair season, y'all.
