HOUSTON--Thousands packed Houston’s Hobby Center for media mogul and OWN founder Oprah Winfrey’s Life Class series on Friday.
Her guest teachers were Lakewood Pastor Joel Osteen and Reverend Rick Warren, author of "The Purpose Driven Life."
The first wave of audience members were in line at 7 a.m. for the 10 a.m. class. Tickets were available through a lottery on Oprah.com.
"I was excited and glad that I came. It was phenomenal," said Bobby Godfrey, after attending the class.
"My happiest days are days where I can do something that speaks to people," Oprah said while talking to reporters. She said during her long-running blockbuster talk show she liked the episodes in which she helped others the most.
"She has such a deep desire to help others be the best that they can," Osteen said. "She could be doing anything else in the world--retired, running around, hanging out."
Oprah said years ago she decided to use TV to help others instead of allowing TV to use her. She has been on such a mission to lift the lives of others, some may see her as a famous member of the clergy.
"I’m not," Oprah said. "I’m very clear about that. I’m very clear about the lane that I’m in."
The Houston Life Class episode will air on the Oprah Winfrey Network on Sunday October 28 at 8 p.m.
