NORTH DAKOTA – It was over before it really began for a recent college grad turned television news anchorman.
AJ Clemente was making his debut at a North Dakota TV station when he didn’t realize his microphone was on coming out of a commercial break. The mic picked up Clemente making a few “choice words” shortly before his co-anchor introduced him for the first time.
He tried to recover, but he was clearly nerve-racked as he tried to introduce himself.
“Um thanks, Van. I’m very excited. I graduated from West Virginia University. I’m used to being from the East Coast.”
He later tweeted, "Well that couldn't have gone any worse."
Clemente’s new bosses were not impressed. They issued an apology and said the anchor had been suspended until further notice. On Monday morning, Clemente tweeted the station had let him go.
