MANSFIELD, La. -- A Houston rapper is out on bond after spending a night in the DeSoto Parish jail.

KSLA-TV reports 31-year-old Wesley Eric Weston, also known as the rap artist Lil' Flip, was arrested Wednesday after deputies pulled him over for speeding on Interstate 49 and they allegedly found marijuana and a semiautomatic weapon in his possession.

The DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office says deputies found in the car a Bushmaster AR-15, the same type of assault rifle that was either used or in the possession of the gunmen in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut, the shooting that killed two firefighters in Webster, N.Y., and the theatre shooting that left 12 dead in Aurora, Colo.

Weston was freed after posting a $35,300 bond.
