HOUSTON – More than 300,000 people participated in the annual LGBT Pride Festival and Parade on Saturday in the Montrose area.
This week’s decisions from the U.S. Supreme Court gave extra cause for celebration for members of Houston’s gay and lesbian community.
The celebration began with the festival, which was held earlier in the day. The parade, led by Houston Mayor Annise Parker and her partner Kathy Hubbard, started in the evening along Westheimer Road, between Dunlavy and Montrose Boulevard.
There were also a lot of medical crews on-hand to help those feeling the heat, as record temperatures soared to over 100 degrees Saturday.
