Join Channel 11 for the 19^th Annual Spirit of Texas Food Drive by dropping off nonperishable food items at your neighborhood Kroger -- just look for the red barrel. Or you can call (713) 661-6279 to make a donation.

The food drive ends Friday, July 14 but you can visit the Houston Food Bank anytime to take part in a Virtual food drive by making monetary donations.

Channel 11 is proud to partner with Kroger, Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, Reliant Energy, Pappas restaurants and United Space Alliance on this important community service campaign.

Items Most Needed:

• Protein: Canned tuna or chicken,  packed in water; Canned stews and pasta/meat, easy on salt and fat
• Peanut Butter
• Canned fruits in light syrup, natural applesauce
• 100% juice cans or boxes (no glass please)
• Canned vegetables, tomatoes, tomato sauce
• Soups with meat and/or beans, meal-in-a-can, easy on salt and fat
• Cereals and cereal bars, easy on sugar and fat
• Pasta, spaghetti, macaroni, noodles
• Packages of dry beans
