KHOU-TV, a BELO owned station in Houston, Texas, has an immediate opening for a Producer to join our award-winning news team.  We’re looking for a newsroom leader, who is creative, has excellent writing and communication skills, works well with others, and can perform under extreme deadline pressure.   Primary responsibilities will include preparing a broadcast that reflects the news philosophy and strategy of news management; coordinating with the director to control the newscast from start- to-finish; actively participating in daily editorial meetings; consulting with reporters on the best way to showcase their reports (i.e., packages, live-from-the-scene reports, etc.), building and overseeing newscast graphics, news writing and copy editing.   Interested candidates should have a college degree and a minimum of 3 years producing experience in a medium to major market and a full working knowledge of ENG/SNG, newsroom computer systems, social media and the internet. This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekday and weekend hours, and have availability to be called in for breaking news and severe weather coverage.

KHOU-TV, a Belo-owned station, is currently looking for a Producer for our Great Day Houston morning show.   The selected candidate will be responsible for producing an entertaining and informative program that reflects the philosophy and strategic initiatives of the station.    Segments produced will include entertainment and community based stories, and segments that are sold to clients.    Additional responsibilities will include working with the Sales Department and clients to achieve entertaining television and successful client agenda; writing stories, openings, and teases; developing formats, rundowns, and scripts; performing clip edits as needed using Avid, Sony Newsbase, or a similar system; participating in daily meetings and offering creative content suggestions; booking guests and audience for programs; and assisting the supervising producer with controlling the broadcast from start-to-finish when on air. 

Interested candidates should preferably have 3 years experience producing television entertainment in a medium to large market or 3 years experience as an associate producer with some producing experience in a medium to large market; college degree preferred; a working knowledge of Avid, Sony Newsbase, or similar editing system; excellent writing, organizational and communication skills; must be well organized and able to perform duties and make sound decisions under extreme pressure; must stay abreast of current events; must be able to work a flexible schedule, which may include overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays; and must be able to interact with people at all levels and represent the station in a professional and positive manner at all times.
