The Dominus Flevit Church, which translates from Latin as "The Lord Wept", was fashioned in the shape of a teardrop to symbolize the tears of Christ. According to the Gospel of Luke, Jesus wept openly while walking toward the city of Jerusalem because he was overwhelmed by the beauty of the Second Temple and its future destruction.
