Frostweed at the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center showed how it got its name during our freezing weather and proved once again that nature provides beautiful surprises. Frostweed is a native plant that, during freezing weather, will split its stem, allowing the plant sap to exude and slowly form ice crystals. The crystals grow into interesting and unique shapes.
