HOUSTON—Honda is recalling nearly 46,000 Odyssey minivans because of a problem with the rear door.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the rear door on certain 2008 to 2009 minivans can fall unexpectedly. The safety administration said the gas struts that help to raise and support the lift gate may be prone to failure due to a manufacturing flaw. The problem has caused two minor injuries.
Honda will send letters to the Odyssey minivan owners who may be affected. Dealers will replace both power lift gate and gas struts free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin around March 13, 2012.
Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009.
