The news is different every day and the faces have changed over the years, but you can always count on KHOU when it comes to community involvement. Our Spirit of Texas Food Drive helps feed Houston's hungry. Every Christmas, our Toy Drive puts smiles on the faces of children who might not have anything under the tree otherwise. And our blood drives are critical to saving lives in the Gulf Coast area. Our community outreach has also included telethons, 11 Listens bus tours, parades and much more throughout these last 60 years.

KHOU is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year! Channel 11 signed on the air on March 23, 1953, as KGUL-TV in Galveston. In June 1959, the station changed its call letters to KHOU and relocated to Houston.
