HOUSTON -– A new tablet is available exclusively on Walmart’s store shelves, and no, you won’t have to shell out the big bucks for it.
The starting price for the Hisense Sero 7 is just $99. Let’s face it, other tablets in the $50 to $150 price range usually turn out to be junk.
CNET says while the Sero 7 does have a “plastic feel” to it, overall, it’s a great tablet for the price.
There are two versions available: the LT and the Pro.
The LT costs $99 is 7 inches, has four gigs of space, expandable memory, Bluetooth, a front facing digital camera (for Skype, etc), and more. The Pro version is $150 and is overall the same, but it has twice the storage space and two digital cameras of better quality.
Both are Android powered, which means you get to download any app you want from the Android Market.
So, other than the “plastic feel,” what’s wrong with the Sero 7? Not much, but the battery life may leave you recharging more than you’d like. The LT version only gets about four hours of heavy use on one charge.
Don't like the cheap plastic feel? As an alternate, the highly reviewed Nexus 7 from Google is a great Android tablet. It starts at $200, though.
