YOUTUBE – ‘Rethink Robotics’ wants you to meet the newest member of their family: Baxter the robot.

The company uploaded a new video of Baxter to its official YouTube channel.

The $22,000 machine, which has a monitor that serves as a face, learns simple tasks from its co-workers – no sophisticated programming necessary. It’s built for automated manufacturing, but it could likely be used for other things as well.

If you give it a command it doesn’t understand, Baxter responds with a confused expression on its face.

Most people would say $22,000 is a lot of money, but in the world of industrial robotics, that’s cheap. Another thing that sets Baxter apart from its competitors is its ability to work next to humans.

What do you think? Could you work next to Baxter? Are you afraid he’ll take your job?
