HOUSTON -- A new app looks to wake you up using the most creative (or annoying) way it can find.

The Carrot Alarm costs 99 cents and is available for the Apple iPhone and iPad. It’s part alarm clock, part game, and part pop quiz. The overall idea: the more you hit the snooze button, the more annoying it gets.

Depending on how you set it up, hitting the snooze button the first time will give you 10 more minutes to rest. If you keep hitting it after that, however, it becomes more difficult to turn off the alarm. Sometimes it’ll make you shake the device, or you may have to pinch something on the screen using two fingers.  Other times it’ll just call you ugly (literally).

The app does anything it can to get you up and moving.

On an Android device? There’s a similar app for you called “See if You Can Sleep.” It forces you to get up and out of bed and take a photo of something on the other side of the house before it stops making noise. It even has a setting that will force it to keep making an audible alarm even if you silence everything else on the device.
