A high pressure ridge dominates the weather scene in Texas. There should be fewer showers to kick off the weekend as a result. Houston is just on fringes of this ridge so we've finally had a few days to dry off. The chances for additional rain are starting to look up however as I am monitoring an upper level distubance shifting towards Texas by Sunday.
The latest microcast models for the local area are taking on a soggy appearance by Sunday afternoon as you can see on this graphic above. If you're planning outdoor activity, Saturday may be the best for you.
Just remember as always to drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks as the heat index values will top out at 104 degrees around town this afternoon.
Have a great weekend and joins us tonight at 6 and 10pm for the latest news, sports and weather updates.
