Houston is Marathon Central this weekend. Saturday, over 600 runners compete for 6 qualifying spots on the Olympic marathon team competing in London this summer. There's also a mini Olympic village in Discovery Green where you can try your skill at various sports. The runners and spectators should bundle up, though. As things get underway in front of the GRB Saturday morning, it'll be in the 30s before quickly thawing into the low 50s by noon. At least there will be plenty of sunshine.
Then Sunday, its the 40th running of the Chevron Houston Marathon. Here's the forecast for that great annual Houston tradition. Tens of thousands who've been training for months take on the course and the weather should be pretty good. Cool for spectators, but great for running:
Then, nearly every eye in town will be glued on Channel 11 for the AFC Divisional Playoff game between our Texans and the Baltimore Ravens. Here's my GameDay forecast for the next Texans win:
Remember, if both the Texans and Broncos win, the AFC Championship game will be held at Reliant Stadium next Sunday. GO TEXANS!!!
Finally, Monday is Martin Luther King Day. There are several observances including two parades downtown. As they get underway, expect cloudy skies and there is a slight chance for a few brief sprinkles. But it should be much milder than the chill we've experienced the past few days:
