Another rainy day South of the beltway with heavy rain pounding Galveston island yet again. It wasn't just rain though with several reports of water spouts spotted around midday. This is a water spout on the North side of Pelican Island from Andrew Callahan.
Radar estimates also show a repeat of Friday with the heaviest rain in Galveston and Brazoria counties.
Official rainfall totals are . . .
Galveston 1.51"
Angleton 2.37"
Palacios 1.12"
Some left over moisture from tropical depression Karl helped today's rainfall get an early start on the coast. By tomorrow more tropical air is expected to pull into the region as a low pressure region sets up in the upper atmosphere over South Texas. This should mean near 90 degree weather and rain to return again to the region. The forecast maps indicate the heaviest rainfall possibility in the South Texas area Sunday afternoon.
