August begins with triple digit heat forecast across Texas today. Dallas may hit 106 while the Houston area will go for 100 and a heat index as high at 108. Drink water, take breaks, double check the back seat and be smart out there.
There is also a slight chance for a late afternoon or early evening thunderstorm. Those storms that do pop could produce dangerous down burst winds that could knock down a tree limb or a power line.

Also, there is a spot in the tropics just east of the Lesser Antilles that may become our next tropical storm later today.
