Hurricane Celia and Tropical Storm Darby continue to strengthen in the Pacific waters. Darby may become a hurricane within 24hrs - - - so the possibility of two hurricanes and a developing storm in the Caribbean will keep us on our toes this week. Darby may also threaten the Pacific Mexican coast near Acapulco with dangerous rip currents and high surf through the weekend as it tries to match it's predecessor's abilities as a hurricane.
Of more concern due to its projected path is the wave currently in the central Caribbean. Heavy rain has fallen in Haiti and Cuba most of the day. The tropical rain is impacting Haitian residents especially hard as many continue to live in tents due to the a major earthquake. In addition the wave currently in a high shear zone will have favorable environment for developing into a possible tropical storm by next week. The hurricane models are starting to favor a central Gulf coast shift by next week due to an approaching mid-western trough over the weekend. Stay with channel 11 as new storms reform Thursday and as the tropics come to life this week.
